Safer City
BCCM’s role is fundamentally about creating a safe, shared, neutral and welcoming space for the benefit of all. BCCM has no legislative or statutory remit, however, it delivers a number of crime prevention initiatives by working through a partnership approach with the various statutory organisations for the benefit of all.
BCCM maximises its multi-agency partnerships by providing continuity and resilience to tackle and prevent crime in the city centre. BCCM’s Safer Action Group has representation from statutory agencies, frontline service providers, education providers, and the business community, working in partnership to
provide safer initiatives to improve perceptions of safety, reduce anti-social behaviour and reduce theft across the city;
encourage stakeholder engagement to support those with chronic social needs;
provide a “ Safe Space “ forum for cross departmental networking to establish who the responsible owners are for each link in the chain to drive positive change across the City;
provide educational outreach to city centre users; and
promote youth engagement through the restorative justice scheme.
